- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture and stir until just combined.
- Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely.
- For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until fluffy.
- Spread cream cheese frosting evenly over cooled banana bread cake. Slice and serve.

For a nutty twist, sprinkle chopped walnuts or pecans over the frosted cake.
