Brioche Burger Buns

Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/3 cup warm water
  • 2 large eggs for dough
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
Topping
  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • sesame seeds optional

Method
 

  1. Whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. In another bowl, mix warm milk, warm water, and 2 eggs.
  3. Add wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir until a dough forms.
  4. Add softened butter and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1.5 hours or until doubled.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal pieces. Shape each into a smooth ball.
  7. Place dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  8. Cover loosely and let rise 45–60 minutes until puffy.
  9. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. Beat remaining egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Brush onto buns and add sesame seeds if desired.
  11. Bake 15–17 minutes until golden brown and shiny.
  12. Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For extra soft buns, place a small dish of water in the oven to create steam while baking!
