Prepare for Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Prepare the Caramel Apple Filling
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, lemon juice, and water (or apple cider).
- Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 minutes, or until the apples are tender-crisp and the sauce has thickened slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
Prepare the Cinnamon Roll Layers
- Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and separate them. Reserve the icing packets for later. On a lightly floured surface or parchment paper, use your hands or a rolling pin to flatten each cinnamon roll into a thin, roughly 4-5 inch oval or rectangular shape. You should have 10 flattened cinnamon rolls total.
Assemble the Lasagna
- Arrange 5 of the flattened cinnamon rolls in a single layer in the bottom of the prepared baking dish, overlapping slightly as needed to cover the base.
- Spread half of the cooked caramel apple filling evenly over the cinnamon roll layer.
- Drizzle approximately half (1/2 cup) of the prepared caramel sauce over the apple filling.
- Repeat with the remaining 5 flattened cinnamon rolls, creating a second layer.
- Top with the remaining caramel apple filling, spreading it out evenly.
- Drizzle the remaining 1/2 cup of caramel sauce over the top.
Bake
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the cinnamon rolls are golden brown and cooked through, and the filling is bubbly. If the top starts to brown too quickly, you can lightly tent it with aluminum foil.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes.
Finish and Serve
- While the lasagna cools, warm the reserved cream cheese icing packets in the microwave for 10-15 seconds until drizzly.
- Drizzle the warm cream cheese icing generously over the top of the caramel apple cinnamon roll lasagna. If desired, sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts.
- Serve warm and enjoy your decadent caramel apple cinnamon roll lasagna!
Notes
This caramel apple cinnamon roll lasagna is best served warm. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently in the microwave or oven. For an extra touch, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream when serving!
