Chicken Wontons in Spicy Chili Sauce

Ingredients
  

Wontons
  • 1/2 lb ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup green onions finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 egg white lightly beaten
  • 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 pack wonton wrappers about 30 pieces
Spicy Chili Sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Chinese black vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp chili oil with flakes adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and egg white. Mix until well blended.
  2. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold to seal tightly.
  3. Bring a large pot of water to a gentle boil. Cook wontons in batches for about 4–5 minutes, or until they float to the top.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, black vinegar, chili oil, sugar, and minced garlic to make the spicy sauce.
  5. Drain cooked wontons and arrange them in serving bowls. Spoon the spicy chili sauce over the top.
  6. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and additional green onions if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

You can prepare the wontons ahead of time and freeze them for up to 2 months. Adjust the chili oil for your desired heat level.
