Ingredients
  

Apple Filling
  • 6 apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
Crisp Topping
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold, cut into cubes

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, and brown sugar. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples.
  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until topping is golden brown and apples are bubbling.

Notes

Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. You can substitute pears for apples for a twist.
