Ingredients

Strawberry Sauce
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Saucepan

Method

  1. Place sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juices.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Add this mixture to the saucepan.
  4. Stir continuously for 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer for another 3 minutes until glossy and slightly thick.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Let the sauce cool slightly. Serve warm or chilled over pancakes, waffles, desserts, or yogurt.

Notes

For a smoother sauce, blend half the mixture and mix it back in before serving.
