Method
- Place sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juices.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Add this mixture to the saucepan.
- Stir continuously for 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for another 3 minutes until glossy and slightly thick.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Let the sauce cool slightly. Serve warm or chilled over pancakes, waffles, desserts, or yogurt.
Notes
For a smoother sauce, blend half the mixture and mix it back in before serving.
