  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Sauce
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup 10.5 oz can
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper or to taste
Topping (Optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onions until the meat is browned and the onions are soft. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom of the baking dish. Add half of the beef mixture, then pour half of the sauce over it. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  6. Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and bake for another 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter version or add mixed vegetables for extra nutrition. This casserole also reheats beautifully — perfect for leftovers!
