- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onions until the meat is browned and the onions are soft. Drain excess fat.
- In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom of the baking dish. Add half of the beef mixture, then pour half of the sauce over it. Repeat layers.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and bake for another 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter version or add mixed vegetables for extra nutrition. This casserole also reheats beautifully — perfect for leftovers!
