  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion chopped
  • 2 cans cut green beans drained (14.5 oz each)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz / 298 g)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions divided
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess grease.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir in cooked beef mixture, green beans, and half of the fried onions.
  4. Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  5. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes, then top with remaining fried onions and bake an additional 5 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For a richer flavor, try adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce or a sprinkle of garlic powder to the beef mixture. This casserole reheats beautifully for leftovers!
