Ingredients

For the Smoothie
  • 1 cup frozen orange segments from 2 medium oranges, peeled and frozen, or store-bought frozen orange slices
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or non-dairy like almond, oat, or soy milk
  • 1/2 cup vanilla Greek yogurt full-fat for richer, non-fat for lighter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp honey or maple syrup optional, adjust to taste
  • 3-4 ice cubes optional, for extra thickness if oranges aren't fully frozen or you prefer a colder smoothie
For Garnish (Optional)
  • 2 orange slices

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Serving glasses

Method

Prepare Ingredients
  1. If using fresh oranges, peel and separate them into segments. Place them in a freezer-safe bag or container and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until solid. (Skip this step if using pre-frozen orange segments).
Blend the Smoothie
  1. Add the frozen orange segments, milk, vanilla Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, and optional sweetener (honey or maple syrup) to a high-speed blender.
  2. If you desire a thicker or colder smoothie, add 3-4 ice cubes.
  3. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. If necessary, stop the blender and scrape down the sides with a spatula to ensure all ingredients are incorporated.
Serve
  1. Pour the Orange Creamsicle Smoothie into two serving glasses.
  2. Garnish each glass with a fresh orange slice, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

For a protein boost, add 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder. To make it dairy-free, use dairy-free milk (like almond or oat milk) and a dairy-free vanilla yogurt. Adjust the sweetness to your preference; start with 1 tablespoon and add more if needed. This smoothie is best enjoyed fresh.
