Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 lbs thinly sliced sirloin steak
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce alcohol-free
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • optional toppings mayonnaise, pickles, hot peppers

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for 6–8 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, then transfer the vegetables to a plate.
  4. Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 3–4 minutes until browned.
  5. Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet and mix with the steak.
  6. Add the Worcestershire sauce and cook for another 1–2 minutes to blend the flavors.
  7. Lay the provolone slices over the steak mixture and let them melt before stirring gently.
  8. Toast the hoagie rolls lightly, then fill each with the cheesesteak mixture.
  9. Add optional toppings if desired and serve warm.

Notes

For extra authenticity, try using Amoroso-style rolls and avoid overloading the sandwich — simplicity is key!
