Ingredients

Cookie Dough
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Filling & Topping
  • 1/3 cup strawberry jam
  • 24 strawberry-flavored chocolate kisses or strawberry candy kisses
  • powdered sugar for rolling

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and roll lightly in powdered sugar.
  7. Place on the baking sheet and gently press an indent into the center of each cookie.
  8. Fill each indent with about 1/2 teaspoon of strawberry jam.
  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set. Remove from oven and immediately press a strawberry kiss into the center.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, unwrap the strawberry kisses before baking so they are ready to press into the warm cookies.
