Dough
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast 2 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
Strawberry Filling
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, diced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
Glaze
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2–3 tbsp milk

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Saucepan
  • Baking Dish

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  3. In a saucepan, add diced strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat for 5–7 minutes until thickened, then cool completely.
  4. After the dough has risen, roll it into a large rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  5. Spread the cooled strawberry filling evenly across the dough.
  6. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30–40 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes or until golden.
  9. For the glaze, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until creamy.
  10. Spread the glaze over warm rolls and top with fresh strawberries if desired.

Notes

For extra strawberry flavor, add freeze-dried strawberry dust to the glaze. These rolls are best enjoyed warm!
