Method
- In a saucepan, combine water, rice vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, garlic, and chili flakes.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add the cornstarch slurry to the saucepan while whisking continuously.
- Simmer for another 5 minutes until the sauce thickens to your liking.
- Remove from heat and let cool. Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator.
Notes
You can adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the chili flakes. For extra flavor, add finely chopped fresh red chilies.
