- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the batter, mixing until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Toss strawberries with sugar and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Top cake with whipped cream or frosting, then spoon strawberries over the top. Slice and serve.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a splash of lemon juice to the strawberries or layer the cake with sliced berries.
